Event description
An overview of Casey Family Programs’ Community Opportunity Map and how it can be leveraged to support Family Resource Centers

About this Event

  • What is Casey Family Programs’ Community Opportunity Map and how can it be useful in your work?
  • How can the Community Opportunity Map support making the case for and telling the story of Family Resource Centers (FRCs)?
  • How can FRCs look at their efficacy in relation to community measures?

The Community Opportunity Map developed by Casey Family Programs is an interactive tool that highlights the aspects of communities that are associated with safe children and strong families. This interactive, research-based framework is composed of select community indicators and is available for any community in the nation to use.

The Partnership for Strong Families, Inc. (PSF) based in Gainesville, Florida has used the tool effectively for developing and making the case for Family Resource Centers (FRCs). PSF has leveraged the data to determine the best location to situate FRCs, to inform dialogue with legislators about them, and to secure funding, including one of only nine Community Collaborations to Strengthen and Preserve Families federal grants awarded across the country by the Children’s Bureau.

This webinar will provide an overview and demonstration of the Community Opportunity Map, and illustrate how it can be used for FRC placement, program planning, funding, evaluation, and sustainability.

Recommended Participants:

National, state, and local policymakers, public departments, Children's Trust Fund staff, private funders, Family Support and Strengthening Network leaders and representatives, Family Resource Center and Family Support Program management and direct service staff.
