Description
The Cause
Thousands of people in Utah battle cancer each year. These people are our neighbors, our family, our friends. They, along with their families, struggle with the emotional, physical, and financial demands of cancer treatments. The Central Utah Clinic Foundation seeks to ease this burden by bringing the community together for the annual Utah Rides for Cancer event. We ride in honor of those who have fought, are fighting, and will fight for their lives. Funds raised aid them in their fight.

The Ride
Utah Rides for Cancer consists of three rides: metric century (70 miles), half metric century (30 miles), and fun ride (10 miles). Volunteers will be stationed along the routes to assist and direct the riders. There will be aid stations at miles 19.1, 39.6, and 52.5. The ride is not a race, and therefore all riders will be expected to obey the rules of the road. The event will also include a bake sale and a gift basket auction. Each rider will receive a URC t-shirt and food after the ride.

About the organizer
Many cancer patients must travel long distances to receive their treatments, making trips to and from the clinic expensive and burdensome for them and their families. Central Utah Clinic Foundation strives to alleviate some of this burden by helping patients pay for the gas and lodging costs incurred through their travels to the clinic. One of the patients the foundation has helped said that this assistance “made all the difference in the world” and that she couldn’t have done without this relief from her burdens.
The Central Utah Clinic Foundation also provides to scholarships to nursing students at UVU every year.
