Event description
This is an online learning experience in partnership with Cottonwood Canyons Foundation.

About this Event

This virtual Mountain Adventures course in a partnership with Cottonwood Canyons Foundation, and will take place during the month of July. In addition to registering for this course, please also register for the Wasatch Wildflower Festival at the Wildflower Wanderer level ($25).

This registration includes access to the Utah Master Naturalist Mountain Adventures online course, a printed copy of the course manual, field notebook, UMN hat, and Mountain Adventures pin (we will ship these to you) in conjunction with the virtual Wasatch Wildflower Festival at the Wildflower Wanderer level (which includes a copy of the fantastic Cottonwood Canyons wildflower field guide, daily wildflower video highlights with suggestions for where to see wildflowers, and “Ask a Naturalist” virtual events each week). We anticipate that these experiences will provide approximately 80-90% of the content from a typical field course.

This is an adult education program that is open to participants 18 years of age and older.  Exceptions for teens as young as 15 may be made if a parent/guardian is also registering for the course.  Please email Mark Larese-Casanova at marklc@usu.edu.

Course Description

Some of the greatest ecological diversity and scenic beauty in Utah exists in the forest and alpine environments. Throughout these ecosystems, temperature, elevation, and precipitation play an important role in defining plant and animal communities and their interactions. Come join us while we explore these systems and learn about how they function, the plants and animals that live there, and how they are managed.  Class size is small in order to maximize your opportunities for learning and having fun!

Course Materials

All course materials are available for download here.  It is highly recommended that you read them before the start of the course.

Course Fees

The $130 registration fee covers the cost of both online experiences and course materials mail to you.  There is an option to register for 4.5 USU continuing education credits (CEUs) for an additional recording fee of $135.  Please contact Mark at marklc@usu.edu if you are interested in this option.
