Friends Who Are Going
Event description

You are invited to attend the next Utah DB2 User Group meeting on June 27 where we will have four amanzing presentations. This event has something for everyone including DB2/zOS and DB2/LUW practitioners. Ember Crooks, Jeff Josten and Lloyd Matthews will be presenting. This time we also hope to have someone tell us about something interesting they are doing with DB2. We will also provide lunch. This event is free, but you must register to attend. You can attend the entire day or just go to the presentation(s) that most interest you and have lunch with us.

At this user group meeting we would like hear from someone doing something interesting with DB2. So if you are doing something new or interesting that you would share with others, please let me know. We will make time for you to present during lunch. Presentations should be between 5 and 15 minutes long. Any format is fine -- you can just talk about what you are doing or create a slide deck. Some topics that come to mind include cloud, using a newer feature like encryption or time travel query, or some innovative way you found to use DB2 features.

DB2 12 for z/OS and Beyond – Jeff Josten

Abstract: This presentation gives a high level overview of DB2 12, and also some other interesting features which have shipped recently on DB2 11 (and sometimes DB2 10) including native DB2 RESTful services, DB2aaS cloud-style provisioning, and IDAA on Cloud. We will also take a peek into the future for what is planned beyond DB2 12.

DB2 for z/OS Continuous DeliveryJeff Josten

Abstract: DB2 for z/OS is moving to a continuous delivery model for shipping new features. The main objectives are to speed up delivery of important new functions and to make it easier for customers to manage DB2 upgrades. This presentation will give an overview of the continuous delivery mechanisms and suggested best practices for managing DB2 in this continuous delivery world.

SQL Infusion: Tuning and Using the DB2/LUW Package Cache - – Ember Crooks
Abstract: DB2's package cache holds queries, access plans, and information about executed queries. There are a number of ways to leverage the package cache to improve performance. Learn all about the package cache and see specific SQL to work with it. SQL will be infused into all areas of this presentation - not just for properly sizing your package cache, but also for extracting useful information from it, including versions 9.5 through 11.

Unlocking the Power of DB2 12 for z/OSLloyd Matthews

Abstract: This presentation covers the recent DB2 12 enhancements delivered in IBM DB2 utilities and tools delivered in Q4 of 2016. We'll cover the focus areas of utilities, administration, perfomance, etc. as well as provide some of the additional enhancements delivered in the same release to add deliver additional features and drive down costs. The topic of continuous delivery and how it affects the IBM DB2 utilities and tools will also be presented.
