Event description

Description

"Brain development" is a popular term in the clinical literature. What exactly that means is a question. This workshop will explore five key areas from developmental personality psychology: self-regulation, internal structure, reality testing, individuation, and mentalization. These five areas are crucial to healthy adaptation and central to successful counseling and psychotherapy. Tactics will be presented which can foster healthy growth in these five areas, not only in family therapy, but in individual treatment as well. A systematic treatment model will be demonstrated that can guide clinicians in shifting from counseling to more in-depth psychology practices by utilizing bio-behavioral techniques in a structured, orderly manner.

This free event is sponsored by Maine Township's MaineStay Youth & Family Services and Chicago Behavioral Hospital. It is appropriate for mental health professionals and includes 5.5 free CEUs for social workers, professional counselors, marriage and family therapists, psychologists, and nurses. Continental breakfast will be available from 8:30-9:00 AM. Advance registration is requested as seating for this event is limited.

All attendees are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to donate to the Maine Township Food Pantry.
