DreamAfrica and A-list Screenwriting Present

A Workshop by Jim Mercurio as part of New York City Media Lab 2017

THERE IS AN “I” IN IDEOLOGY: Using Craft and Technology to Express your Personal Voice

There are subtle and not-so-subtle ways that uncontested ideology contributes to exclusionary, ethnocentric, or merely solipsistic storytelling. All of us have perspectives that are biased. Instead of it limiting our expression, our personal, implicit ideology can be harnessed and turned into a powerful storytelling tool. Your personal voice and its expression—involving a range of viewpoints such as politics, multiculturalism or just quirkiness—can be enhanced with craft and your medium of choice. This workshop gives you hands-on skills to grow as a storyteller.

This workshop takes place at the same venue as the NYCML Summit at The New School's Hoerle Lecture Hall (UL 105) at 63 5th Avenue, NYC 10003.

DreamAfrica is on a mission to create economic and cultural inclusion for storytellers in the new digital economy with an exciting, new collaborative approach to distribution. Their team has given TED Talks as well as presentations at several Ivy League schools and at the 3 Rivers Screenwriting Conference. Meet CEO and Founder Brian Asingia at the workshop.

A-list Screenwriting brings the best training and one-on-one feedback to screenwriters, filmmakers and all storytellers. Join us for our weekly events this Fall in NYC and learn about working with story analyst Jim Mercurio.
