Event description

Description

Contemplative practices can be used in the classroom to: increase concentration and attention; increase psychological well-being; increase connection, generosity, and lovingkindness; deepen understanding of course material; and increase creativity and insight. In this workshop, CSU San Marcos Professors Marie Thomas (Psychology) and Ranjeeta Basu (Economics) will introduce you to and you will practice a variety of contemplative techniques that we have successfully used in our classes such as mindfulness meditation, deep listening, contemplative movement, and compassion and lovingkindness.

Attendees will:

· Have a set of tools that they will be able to use in their classrooms;

· Understand the ways that contemplative techniques can be used to improve a variety of student outcomes.

This event is part of the CTL series New Frontiers in Higher Education and Creating a Climate for Learning.

* Graduate students are welcome to attend all CTL events, space permitting. If an event fills up, GTAs will be moved to the waitlist in the order in which they registered.
