Event description

Description

Impact Experience and The Sapelo Foundation invite you to a beautiful 600-acre estate in the middle of balmy, beautiful, and historic St. Simons Island, Georgia from the evening of March 9th to the morning of March 12th for: Using Capital for social change in Rural Georgia: A Musgrove Action Retreat.

The overall focus of this retreat will be to bring together diverse stakeholders integral to creating positive social change in rural communities (including foundations, investors, non-profits, businesses, community members and innovators), who share the belief that collaboration & co-creation are key elements to exponential change, in order to actively address core issues related to rural development and look at collaborative solutions of how to activate capital and develop investment opportunities to support rural communities in Georgia. Specific issues to be discussed include the opioid crisis, sustainable fisheries and reneweable energy.

As a result of your participation, you can expect to have contributed to cross-stakeholder working groups and to have co-created concrete action plans for specific areas in Georgia and across the country. The generated action plans will not only provide guidance for Georgia-based projects but will also shape initiatives in other parts of the United States. Ultimately, these collaborations should encourage collaboration for the future as well.

Our plan is to depart with stronger relationships, greater knowledge, and a shared commitment for an action plan. Given your expertise and dedication, we know the Using Capital for social change in Rural Georgia: A Musgrove Action Retreat will be more productive and dynamic with you there. Can you join us?

RSVP Deadline: November 30th

Please complete the online registration form here . If you have questions, please contact Jenna Nicholas at jenna@impact-experience.com. To best reach the goals we set, we require the following -

- All participants must be present for the entire agenda. Due to the remote location and collaborative environment we hope to foster, we cannot allow any participants to arrive late or leave early. (So, we include on-time travel arrival/departure confirmations as part of your RSVP).

- All participants must make a post-Musgrove commitment to our collective action plan. (So, we include a time commitment of at least 10 hours post-Musgrove as part of your RSVP).

Sincerely,

Impact Experience and The Sapelo Foundation

ABOUT SAPELO FOUNDATION

ABOUT IMPACT EXPERIENCE

Impact Experience is an organization that fuels transformation in marginalized communities by creating and facilitating highly curated experiences that foster strategic relationships between key diverse stakeholders that in turn generate trust, co- creation and action. Our unique methodology includes activities that generate a deep human connection between stakeholders and reduce implicit bias to enhance strategy, and drive impact. We also include the participation of marginalized communities by partnering with them for each experience. We believe diversity, equity and inclusion are critical in all aspects of social change — from who invests the money and who receives it, to how it is used and the impact it has. That is why we work to ensure maximum diversity in every Impact Experience.

ABOUT MUSGROVE ACTION RETREAT

The Musgrove Action Retreat is a launching pad for a “Dream Team” of 20-40 participants. They discuss a specific goal/problem affecting vulnerable populations, rural communities, or their natural environments, and then develop actionable next steps towards solutions… all while fostering relationships and getting swept up in the height of Georgia’s natural beauty. Please click here to see photos and learn more about Musgrove. (For instance, U.S. President Jimmy Carter convened his first Cabinet Meeting at Musgrove.) Musgrove creates an intimate bonding experience. It is known for lowering blood pressure, sparking ideas, connecting lifelong friends, and serving as the starting point for the creation of positive, systemic change. Oftentimes, the most impactful and catalytic outcomes of a Musgrove Action Retreat often occur during intentional breaks in the agenda.
