San Francisco, California
London, United Kingdom
USHLI is proud to announce its nationally acclaimed Career & College Recruitment Fair in downtown Chicago, which serves as the official launch of our 2014 Student leadership Series (SLS). We would like to respectfully invite you and students from your school to participate. Attendance is FREE and USHLI will provide a light lunch. Schools are only asked to provide their own transportation.
The goal of our SLS is to ensure that every child has an opportunity to obtain the level of education that is consistent with his or her maximum potential and the opportunity to be successful in life and career. Arguably one of the largest college fairs in the nation, USHLI continues to receive feedback from recruiters, counselors and students praising our college recruitment fair not only for its quantity but for its quality as well. In 2014, we are expecting over 100 recruiters and over 3,000 high school students, teachers, and counselors to attend.
Our Latino Leadership Rally will kick off the event with one of the most respected Latino actors in Hollywood; April Lee Hernandez-Castillo. Her personal life-story is one of victory. The Bronx native made her stage debut at the famous New York Comedy Club as a standup comedienne. Keeping an eye on the big picture, April tried out for and earned the role as Eva Benitez in 2007’s “Freedom Writers” alongside Academy Award-winner Hilary Swank. While promoting “Freedom Writers,” she discovered she possessed the gift of connecting with audiences and now uses it to promote positive change. Her genuine commitment to speak truthfully about her personal struggles, determination and faith has resonated with audiences of all ages and ethnic groups.
Your students will attend workshops on overcoming challenges to academic success, leadership development, and financial aid. They will also have the opportunity to visit with recruiters representing vocational and technical schools, community colleges, 4-year institutions and the military. Students will also have the opportunity to visit our Exhibit Show where public and private sector representatives will disseminate information on scholarships, internships, and part-time employment opportunities.
