We are proud to announce Coach Doug Soles and Coach Daniel Caulfield as our presenters at the 2019 USC Cross Country and Track & Field Coaches Clinic!

This Clinic Event for High School Coaches and College Coaches will be held on Wednesday June 26, 2019 at Upper St. Clair High School from 9:25am-4:00pm.

Doug Soles of Great Oak High School (Temecula, California) and Daniel Caulfield of California University of Pennsylvania (California, Pennsylvania) will be our presenters for the 2019 Coaches Clinic.

Coach Soles and Coach Caulfield will each present twice during the clinic, in the morning and the afternoon sessions. Each of the four presentions will last 50 minutes. (Presentation time includes 40 minutes for the lecture, and 10 minutes for questions & answers from the attendees.) As a special treat, we will have both Coach Soles and Coach Caulfield perform a Questions & Answers session together lasting 25 minutes. This will be conducted for all attendees before the day's events have concluded.

This clinic event will be held at Upper St. Clair High School- 1825 McLaughlin Run Road, Upper St. Clair, Pennsylvania 15241. On Wedneday June 26, 2019, check in will begin at 9:25am in the main theatre lobby, and the event will conclude at 4pm. All presentations will be held in the Large Group Instruction room. Lunch will be provided in the cafeteria. Short breaks will be structured throughout the day's schedule.

Coach Doug SolesCoach Doug Soles- Head Track & Field Coach and Head Cross Country Coach, Great Oak High School in Great Oak, CA.

Doug Soles is arguably one of the best High School Coaches in the country. His teams- both boys and girls- at Great Oak High School are consistently ranked nationally. On the girls side, Great Oak High School has won seven Division 1 cross country state championships in California (six in a row). The boys teams have won four Division 1 cross country state championships in California (four in a row). No stranger to national success, the girls of Great Oak High School have placed in the top 3 at the Nike Cross Nationals Championships three times. Additionally, the cross country boys of Great Oak High School won the Nike Cross Nationals Championship in 2015!

Having success year round is a true measure of the strength within your program. Great Oak athletes have won league titles in track and field within the state of California. Doug Soles has coached multiple girls to run under 4:50 in the 1600 meters! On the boys side, Coach Soles has coached multiple boys to run under 4:15 in the 1600 meters! Under the watch of Coach Soles, the Great Oak Boys Team in track and field set a national record in the 4x1600 meter relay, and have been nationally ranked in various track and field events.

It's no surprise Doug Soles was named USA Today National Boys Track Coach of the Year in 2016, and Cal Coaches named him the 2016-17 Boys Southern California Coach of the Year. Many athletes from the teams at Great Oak High School have continued to flourish and achieve success in athletics at the collegiate level.

Coach Daniel Caulfield

Coach Daniel Caulfield- Head Track & Field Coach and Head Cross Country Coach, California University of Pennsylvania in California, PA.

Daniel Caulfield is one of the most accomplished collegiate coaches around. Coaching at California University of Pennsylania, Daniel Caulfield has continually progressed the program to a high level throughout his tenure. He's developed a combined 15 NCAA All-Americans at Cal U with the cross country and track and field programs! In 2017, Coach Caulfield's Women Cross Country team achieved a milestone by winning the program's first ever title at the NCAA Regional Championships. This accolade earned the team their first ever appearance in the NCAA Division II National Championships.

During the 2017 Indoor Track & Field season, Coach Caulfield directed the women's team to a top five finish at the indoor conference championships. During the spring, both the men and women teams matched their best-ever finish at the league championships. Three of his athletes were selected to compete at the NCAA Championships during the outdoor season. Coach Caulfield continues to set the bar high for his teams both inside and outside of the classroom!

Exelling at all levels, Daniel Caulfield competed at renowned Adams State in Alamosa, Colorado under the tuteledge of Coach Joe Vigil and Coach Damon Martin. Daniel was a 10-time All-Amerian and two-time NAIA National Champion. A native of Ireland, Coach Caulfield competed in the world championships in the 800 meters, and held the Irish national indoor record in the 800 meters for over 10 years. Before arriving at California University of Pennsylvania, Daniel returned to Adams State to coach there for 6 years. While serving as a coach, Adams State won 4 NCAA women's cross country national championships and two men's titles. Daniel Caulfield was inducted into the Adam State Athletic Hall of Fame in 2017.

Who should attend?

Any Cross Country Coach or Track & Field Coach that wants to learn from the best minds in the sport should attend. High School Coaches or College Coaches would be the ideal attendees for this event, since this year's presenters include both a High School Coach and a College Coach. However, cross country and/or track and field coaches of all ability levels and age groups will be able to learn from the information presented at the clinic. (Each presenter is a head coach for Cross Country and Track & Field for their respective institutions.) I plan on driving or flying to this event. How close is the airport and Downtown Pittsburgh to the event location?

For travelers flying in, the event location is roughly 20 miles from Pittsburgh International Airport. For those staying in the area before or after the event, there are plenty of hotspots in the South Hills area. Access to Downtown Pittsburgh is approximately a 30 minute drive.


I am traveling from another state or far away and wish to stay in a hotel. Are there any options close to the event location?

Yes, we have some options for those attendees that are traveling and wish to use a hotel for the night before for clinic and/or the night the clinic ends. If you are traveling from far away, perhaps consider checking into a hotel on Tuesday June 25, 2019 and exploring the area. Then wake up refreshed on Wednesday June 26, 2019 to attend the clinic. After the clinic ends, do some more exploring, spend the night. Then check out on Thursday June 27, 2019 for your trip home.

What are my transportation/parking options for getting to and from the event?

Use the physical address of the Upper St. Clair High School; 1825 McLaughlin Run Road; Upper St. Clair, PA 15241 to locate the event location. You may use any of the open parking spots in the lot facing the school. Parking is free. Enter the building through the Main Theatre entrance (middle arch) using the "Coaches Clinic" signs as a guide.

Are there any local running trails in the area?

Yes, if you are a runner, there is a local running trail approximately 2.2 miles away from the event location. Follow directions to the Montour Trail Parking on Clifton Road. The address is near George Washington Elementary School (515 Clifton Rd, Bethel Park, PA 15102). You will know you are in the correct area if you pass Al's Cafe Restaurant, left turn onto Clifton Road and then pass under the JR Taylor Memorial Bridge. You will see the Montour Trail entry.


Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

You should bring a physical copy of your printed ticket or an electronic copy (on your phone or device) to check in at the event.


What's the refund policy?

Tickets will be refunded only if event is cancelled by the organizer.

Full refunds will be issued if you cancel your registration prior to 4/1/19. After that date, you will not receive a refund.
