Webinar 1: Why Should I Care about Collaboration?

This webinar will provide an overview of the critical interdependencies between the water and emergency services sectors. It will include speakers from an emergency management agency and a water utility to discuss how their organizations have benefitted from mutual collaboration.

Speaker Bios:

Lauren Wisniewski, US EPA, Environmental Engineer
Lauren Wisniewski is an environmental engineer in EPA's Office of Water. She has worked at EPA since 2002 on a variety of projects including Water and Power Resiliency, Multi-Sector Infrastructure Protection, Active and Effective Security, Water Quality Standards, and watershed modeling. Lauren has a Bachelor’s of Science in Engineering (BSE) in Civil Engineering from Duke University and a Master’s of Public Health (MPH) from George Washington University.

Benjamin Ruppert, Coordinator of Emergency Management, City of Hopewell

As the Coordinator of Emergency Management for the City of Hopewell, Ben has the responsibility of emergency planning, and coordinating response efforts in the event of a natural or manmade disaster within the City. He began his career with the City of Hopewell in 2001 as a Firefighter/Paramedic for the City’s Department of Fire & Rescue. Since the appointment to his current position in June of 2007 he led the City’s preparedness efforts through many projects including; re-writing the City’s Emergency Operations Plan, numerous emergency response exercises, as well as training City employees and response partners in the use of the National Incident Management System. He has also been involved in the City’s response to various emergencies and disasters including Hurricane Irene, Hazmat spills, etc.

Jaimie Foreman, Certified Operator/Regulatory Compliance Administrator, City of Carmel Water Utilities

Jaimie Foreman is a Certified Operator/Regulatory Compliance Administrator for the City of Carmel Water Utilities. She started with the City of Carmel Water Utilities as an operator in training in November 2003. She received her WT3 in the Fall of 2005, followed by her WT5 in 2013; she has remained employed with the City of Carmel Water Utilities. Jaimie was elected the Chairperson for the InAWWA Emergency Response Committee in October of 2013 and resides on the Executive Board. She has also been an officer of the InAWWA Central District since 2009. She is currently the Trustee of this district.
