About this Event

EPA will use your registration information solely for this event. We will not share your information with any third party.

If you require special accommodations, please contact Shayna Sellars at sellars.shayna@epa.gov or 202-564-1411 by February 4, 2021 to make arrangements.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, in partnership with the National Tribal Toxics Council and National-EPA Tribal Science Council, invites you to join us for a 2-hour train-the-trainer webinar to learn how to use the new Lead Awareness in Indian Country: Keeping our Children Healthy! curriculum in your own community.

The curriculum is a robust set of educational tools that provide practical, on-the-ground, community-based resources to raise awareness about childhood lead exposure; expand the understanding of lead’s potential impacts on children’s health and cultural practices; and encourage actions that can be taken to reduce and/or prevent childhood lead exposure. This webinar will provide an in-depth overview of materials to show community leaders how to use the curriculum; facilitate customized sessions; modify materials; and to think about the best strategies to teach information and increase attendance.

Community leaders (i.e., teachers, outreach specialist, educators, environmental staff, social workers, community health workers and youth leaders) do not need to be experts on lead or lead exposure to execute this curriculum. By the end of the train-the-trainer webinar, participants will:

Learn simple actions to reduce lead exposure; Recognize that the curriculum is designed to be modified to fit an individual community’s needs and situations; Be familiar with all materials included within the curriculum; and Plan how to facilitate sessions in their own community.
