Please join us on Thursday, June 29 from 1- 5 PM for the Advanced Septic Nitrogen Sensor Showcase Day in New York City. EPA launched the “Advanced Septic System Nitrogen Sensor” Challenge back in January. We received almost 20 submissions and with input from a panel of expert judges we selected 3 solutions as Winners and 4 Honorable Mentions. We will officially announce these winners on June 29. Join us to learn about the top sensor designs and technologies, and for an afternoon of networking with a diverse set of stakeholders, investors and partners in the decentralized and onsite advanced wastewater treatment field. Thank you for your interest and support!

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) in collaboration with the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) and The Nature Conservancy (TNC) seeks to identify and spur development of technologies to monitor nitrogen concentration in the effluent from advanced Onsite Wastewater Treatment Systems (OWTS). Phase I of this Challenge program was an Ideation Challenge to gain a better understanding of low cost sensor technology that could be utilized to detect and measure nitrate and ammonium, or total nitrogen in the effluent of advanced OWTS. Future phases of the Septic Sensor Challenge program will include prototype development and testing.
