URPE CONFERENCE :: The Political Economy of the Environment
Saturday, October 5, 2013 from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (EDT)
SATURDAY, OCTOBER 5th, 2013:
An URPE Conference Co-Sponsored with New Politics
We are living in a period of increasing environmental crisis and growing inequalities within and between the countries of the world. Understanding and challenging capitalism is therefore essential for the building of local, national and international environmental movements. The goal of this conference is both to clarify areas of agreement among progressive environmental activists and to promote friendly discussion of disagreements.
When & Where
The Union for Radical Political Economics (URPE) is an interdisciplinary association devoted to the study, development and application of radical political economic analysis to social problems. Founded in 1968, URPE presents a continuing critique of the capitalist system and all forms of exploitation and oppression while helping to construct a progressive social policy and create socialist alternatives. URPE members, often in cooperation with other organizations, organize local study groups, speaking and writing projects, and political events. URPE’s international members in Latin America are involved in discussions, visits, and exchanges.
