Austin Resource Recovery invites business and property owners, facility managers, janitorial service providers, and commercial property tenants to learn about recycling requirements for businesses in Austin. Topics will include implementing effective recycling programs and complying with the Universal Recycling Ordinance (URO).
Complimentary lunch will be provided.
The Business Outreach Team will give a brief presentation about Zero Waste and the online reporting software. Team members will be available to answer questions about recycling and waste diversion. Participants will be encouraged to share their recycling and reduction best practices.
Beginning October 1, 2016 the Universal Recycling Ordinance establishes minimum recycling standards for all multifamily properties and for all commercial properties larger than 5,000 square feet. The goal is to ensure recycling is convenient for tenants and employees and includes the following requirements:
• Sufficient recycling capacity for tenants and employees
• Convenient access to recycling services for tenants and employees
• Recycling services for a minimum of 5 materials
• Bilingual recycling education and informational container signs
• Submit an online Annual Diversion Plan
The online Annual Diversion Plan or ADP will be explained in detail.
Business Outreach Team members will be available to assist you with completing your ADP at this event. If you would like to take advantage of this opportunity, bring information about the trash and recycling services for your property including number of containers, their size(s) and frequency of pickups. You can also bring your laptop or tablet – or use one of ours.
We look forward to seeing you there!
