The National Museum of African American Music is excited to introduce our new adult educational component – the Master Series. Attendees of the series will receive:
- Up to 180 minutes of lessons that will consist of a combination of instructional, contextual and theory-based curriculum at rapid pace.
- Engage with masters to receive information and expertise to add to their repertoire.
- Lunch w/Q&A session
December Series: Vocal Jazz with Dr. Cedric Dent A native of Detroit, MI, Dr. Cedric Dent was a baritone vocalist, music arranger, co-producer and member of the 10-time Grammy Award-winning vocal group TAKE 6. After 25 years, he retired from performing and has been a professor in the School of Music at Middle Tennessee State University (Murfressboro, TN) where he directs the MTSU Singers (a vocal jazz ensemble), teaches a course he devloped on the history of Black Gospel Music, as well as undergraduate and graduate courses in music theory. Dent continues to compose and arrange for various live and recording projects across the country.
