UrbanistasLDN are delighted to be holding our Expo #18 on Wednesday 28th September 2016. We are being hosted by the very generous HTA Design LLP, a multidisciplinary regeneration consultancy, at their studio in Kentish Town. Just a reminder that our Expo events are women-only (sorry boys - see you at a social!)
As usual we have three great pitches lined up, plus the chance to nibble, sip, chat, network, debate and think. What more could you ask for on a Wednesday night?!
- Pitch 1 will be from Shareen Elnaschie. Shareen is an architectural + urban designer and researcher with a focus on action research, participatory processes and inclusive integration strategies. She is also a design educator and has been working with Humanitarian Support Agency on Lesvos since December 2015. Shareen has set up “The Office of Displaced Designers” at a refugee camp in Lesvos and is looking for support in formalising the platform into an independent organisation.
- Pitch 2 will be from Giorgia Depaoli, Gender Advisor to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. Giorgia is exploring the possibility to support projects focused on the women-responsive design of student accommodation in EBRD’s Countries of Operations. Giorgia is looking for support and collaboration opportunities, as well as debate on the differing needs of female versus male students.
- Pitch 3 will be from Gemma John, an anthropologist working for Foster + Partners. She conducts research that helps architects design spaces from the 'inside out'. Gemma will be talking about the RSA and asking how Urbanistas can support them in branching out to a built environment angle (for both women AND men!).
We’re really excited to have such great topics for Expo #18 as we know they will lead to great contributions from our awesome Urbanistas’ collective knowledge.
Look forward to seeing you there –
