The conference includes a dynamic keynote address, as well as participatory workshops and discussions, all focused on topics relevant to urban education. Urban Teaching Matters 2017 focuses on progressive pedagogy in urban settings, youth participatory action research, advocacy and public policy, integrating current social movements into the curriculum, and building relationships with students and communities across race and class.
