Event description

Description

The Urban Roots Reunion and Summit will take place Saturday, March 30th, 11-3PM at American Indian Health and Family Services, 4880 Lawndale. In true Urban Roots style, we are planning for plenty of ice breakers and opportunities to network with peers. Break out sessions featuring past Urban Roots grads as presenters will allow participants time to dig deep into topics that all community gardeners grapple with such as community organizing, programming, and capacity building. We will learn from the experiences of past grads about best practices in the field that support a growing urban agriculture movement and lead to healthier lives for Detroiters. This year marks 15 years of Urban Roots graduates leading garden projects across the city. Together we are shaping a powerful food sovereign city! It is our hope that participants go into the 2019 season, with new ideas, fresh perspectives and an increased network to continue to do this important work and to inspire future Urban Roots students for years to come!

Urban Roots Graduates are encouraged to bring fellow community gardeners with them. The event is open to all Detroit, Highland Park and Hamtramck community gardeners (or future community gardeners!)

Urban Roots Grads! Are you interested in submitting a presenter proposal? Submit your proposal here. Presenter applications are due February 15th. For more information, contact Tee at 313-656-4769 (GROW) or Tee@keepgrowingdetroit.org.
