Urban Renewal Big Band
Event Information
About this Event
The Urban Renewal Big Band places its roots in the Jimmy Coe Orchestra, which started in the 60's and was born of the Count Basie tradition, performing modern jazz as well as popular music loved by generations. Following Coe's death in 2004, trumpeter Clifford Ratliff & vocalist Larry Greene continued his legacy under the moniker the Clifford Ratliff Big Band. In 2018, Ratliff moved to the East Coast to be closer to family and to start a new musical journey, the name shifted to the Urban Renewal Big Band. A collection of musical greats and youthful performers carving out their own musical stamp. It's music still stands rooted in the sounds of the Basie / Coe era, yet with the obvious injection time's modern hits. A fitting salute to Jimmy's musical spirit and philosophy.
