About this event

This year’s Urban Mindfulness Summit was EPIC!! Thank you for your openness and willingness to allow us to serve you in a way that is very meaningful for us!

We are so grateful for the support and well wishes of the Honorable Representative Barbara Lee (She Speaks for Me! And Us!), US Congressperson for California’s 13th District.

Thank you to the Honorable Alameda County Supervisor Keith Carson for sharing insights on a 10- year strategic plan based on uniting us in Principle and around our commonalities.

Thank you to the Honorable Lynette McElhaney, Councilperson in Oakland’s 5th District for breaking down the ideology of plantation economics, connecting those ideas to our present conditions and encouraging us all to move beyond this mindset to bring forth a world that works for all.

Thank you to Bishop Yvette Flunder from City of Refuge, UCC for reminding us to be compassionate-- that there is an immediate and urgent need to find our common denominator and encouraging us to contemplate how we respond to our “already-hereness”.

Thank you to Artist and Activist Dana King for shepherding this meeting of the minds in a way that cracked all of our hearts wide open--panelists, hosts, and attendees alike.

Thank you to Health and Well-being Circle facilitators: Amealya Blake, Corey Hollis, Rosesharon Oates and Adrienne Robinson for offering us everyday spiritual and mental health mindfulness practices that are accessible, easy, and effective. As promised, here are the handouts for the Heart Meditation and Recipes and the Face Exercise Routines.

Thank you to the High Priestess of Consciousness Music Rickie Byars for nourishing our minds, bodies, and souls as we “gathered at the well” of love with musical vibrations that remind us that regardless of the question, the answer is always love.

Rickie Byars has been a key contributor to the Urban Mindfulness Summit since its inception, and we are pleased to announce that she will continue to be a part of the summit next year. SAVE THE DATE for November 13-14, 2021, in fact, feel free to register NOW:

Stay tuned for more information!!
