Description

**The $10 fee is refundable upon attendance**

We have sold out of tickets where you will get a grow kit. However, we have opened a limited amount of tickets for people who would still like to attend for the talk.

In the second event of the “Urban Food Lab” series, we focus on mushrooms. Mushrooms are one of the great decomposers of the natural world. They break organic matter down into base elements, which are then upcycled by the mushroom itself and/or made available for use by other organisms like plants. Therefore, they can play a major role in the recirculation of waste streams and they are delicious too!

We invited Andrew Carter, who is the co-founder of Smallhold – a provider of automated, subscription-based mini-farms and the only producer of mushrooms in NYC. He will talk about the importance of mushrooms in our food chain and will help us to build a personal mushroom grow kit. At the end, every participant will be able to take home a kit and hopefully harvest some delicious mushrooms a couple of weeks later. Learn how to grow your own mushrooms with Andrew!

About the Hosts:

Andrew Carter is CEO and co-founder of Smallhold. He has over 10 years of experience in controlled environment farm systems design, operations, and horticulture. He previously worked at Brightfarms, Windowfarms and Blue Planet Consulting.
