10 am – 5pm
Programme:
10.00 – Opening and refreshments
10.30 – Chiara Tornaghi (University of Leeds): welcome and presentation of Urban Food Justice social platform
10.50 – Guest speaker: Andre’ Viljoen (University of Brighton): "Urban agriculture for a sustainable future: contemporary examples from Europe and the USA".
11.20 – Joanne Clough (Leeds City Council, Parks and Countryside Service): presenting Feed Leeds
11.40 – ‘World Cafe’ discussion: envisioning urban agriculture in the Leeds City Region
12.30 – 13.30 lunch
14.00 – Councillor Dobson: community food growing
14.05 – Orchard planting at Potternewton Park with the New Shoots gardening group
15.30 – Tour of Chapeltown’s community gardens guided by local community food grower, Janet Zaddisa
The event is free, but places are limited.
Please book (max. 1 person per organisation).
A minibus will be available for a guided tour of community gardens. If you require a place please email chiara.tornaghi@gmail.com
