The Challenges & Opportunities of
Preserving State Affordable Housing Programs:
A Town Hall with Missouri State Legislators

Featuring

Senator Ryan Silvey, Senate District 17
Senator John Rizzo, Senate District 11
Representative Lauren Arthur, House District 18
Representative Kevin Corlew, House District 14
and Councilman Quinton Lucas, KCMO 3rd District at-large

The Missouri legislature is considering tax reforms that could reduce or eliminate programs like the State Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) and the State Historic Tax Credit. Since 2011, just in Kansas City, MO, over $395 million of completed projects and approved construction has created 1846 units of affordable housing using just $11.8 million of LIHTC per year. The State Historic Tax Credit provided another $6 million of critical capital support to these projects. In fact, LIHTC finance just about every affordable rental housing unit in the country and are a tremendous driver of investment in low-income neighborhoods. This UDX event, produced in partnership with the Missouri Workforce Housing Association, is an unique opportunity to hear from local and state legislators as they share their perspectives on this critical Kansas City issue.
