Description

Crew Leaders: Susan McDonnell & Robert Caldwell

Project Overview: Come join us for an overnight trail crew working on the closed Eagle Creek trail!

This will be a self-supported backcountry trail crew. Participants will provide their own food and camping gear. A water filtration system will be provided, or you can bring your own. Backpacking experience required.

On Day 1, we'll backpack in 2.2 miles, set up camp, then hike another couple of miles to work on the trail. Total distance for the day will be about 7 miles.
On Day 2, we'll work a full day, hiking up to 7 miles RT.
On Day 3, we'll pack up camp and do a little trail work, and then hike back out to the trailhead. Total distance for the day will be up to 5 miles RT.

Work will include clearing brush and repairing tread. Work area may include uneven footing.

What You Need: Long pants, long sleeved shirt, and sturdy over-the-ankle hiking boots are required. Backpacking gear needed includes backpack, tent, sleeping bag & pad, stove & cook kit, water bottles, personal items, extra clothes, rain gear, and food for three days and two nights. You will also need a day pack to take with you for trail work, or you can convert your backpack into a day pack. We'll provide hard hats, gloves, and tools, but if you have your own, feel free to bring them. Most of our tools will already be at our work site, but we may need to carry a few smaller tools in with us, and may be carrying the tools out at the end of the trip.
