Description

The Monumental Women Project welcomes you to the unveiling ceremony of the Dr. Georgiana Rose Simpson (AB 1911, AM'20 PhD '21) Bronze Bust in Reynolds Club. As one of the first African American women to earn a PhD in the United States, Dr. Simpson's life and scholarship have paved the way for women across all academic disciplines.

After more than two years of hard work and collaborations, the Monumental Women Project is excited to celebrate this important addition to public art and life in Chicago. When unveiled it will be the first piece of public art to honor a woman for her own accomplishments in the city of Chicago.

Please join us for a night of honoring Dr. Georgiana Rose Simpson's life. The event will begin at 6 PM in Mandel Hall and will be followed by a reception. This event is open to the public.

For media and public inquires please contact monumentalwomenproject@gmail.com.
