Ever dream of having your name roll by on the credits of a movie? Here is your chance to be part of a three-day workshop offered by well-known Newfoundland filmmaker Roger Maunder. Learn scriptwriting, filming and editing. Day 1 starts 2 pm - 6:00 pm. Day 2 starts 8:30 am - 4:00 pm and day 3 starts at 8:30 am - 2:00. Cost includes all 3 days.

Night Photography Primer 22/9/17 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm & 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm
During this session John Elliott will cover many topics including urban night photography, the milky way, meteor showers, northern lights, star trails, time lapse night photography, light painting and post processing of images. Equipment required: camera with manual exposure settings, manual focus, wide angle lens, self-timer (but more ideally, remote shutter release capability) and a sturdy tripod. Also recommended but not required: small red light flashlight and weight for the centre post of your tripod. Please note the evening session will be held outdoors, dress accordingly. A contingency plan will be in place for inclement weather. $75 +HST

It's a wrap and time to party! An evening that showcases the best of the week's creativity, including the screening of the Filmmaking Workshop's film. What will it be this year? Horror? Celebrate new friendships, creative inspiration and magic of unscripted experiences on Twillingate Island.

The Unscripted Twillingate Digital Arts Festival 2017 runs from September 20 - 23: four days of workshops, feasting, entertainment and adventure - all centred around digital creativity. It's a time to digitally create, learn and share while enjoying the beauty of Twillingate Island on Newfoundland's north east coast.

 

Wednesday, September 20, 2017  

8:30am  Registration

Registration opens at the Unscripted Twillingate Office, 149 Main Street, Twillingate. Come get your name tag, program and all your questions answered. And while you are here, you can purchase your festival t-shirt, a few bottles of water or treats to eat; everything you need to keep you going through all your digital art adventures!

 

11:30am - 1:45pm  Opening Luncheon 

The 2017 Unscripted Twillingate Digital Arts Festival kicks off with a delicious luncheon and an inspiring leading-edge speaker. Stay tuned for our speaker announcement!!! Location: TBA ($25 +HST)

 

2:00am - 6:00pm  Digital Filmmaking - Day 1: Script Writting

Three action packed, fun filled days that result in a short film that you helped write, create and might even star in!  Perhaps you'll be in front of the camera or maybe you're more comfortable at the back, whatever your preference there is a role for you. View last year's creation, Checking Out. One ticket gets you all three days: September 20, 2 pm to 6 pm; September 21, 8:30 am to 4 pm; and September 22, 8:30 am to 2 pm. Workshop is led by filmmaker and author, Roger Maunder. Location: TBA (Please note that shooting locations will vary and some locations may be outside, dress for the elements.) $175 +HST (Sorry, tickets for individual days are not available.)

 

6:15pm - 7:30pm  Opening Reception & Opening of Art Exhibit (FREE)

The opening of our exhibit of digital art on canvas and screen - the best work from invited local talent and featured artists on display throughtout the festival week for your enjoyment. Everyone welcome. Refreshments and welcome greetings. Music by Quote the Raven. Location: Masonic Lodge, 111 Main Street, Twillingate. No ticket required. Donations accepted to support student participation in our exhibit.

 

8:15pm - 10:15pm  Kitchen Party

Come hear The Split Peas, Twillingate's very own all-women musical group who specialize in folk and Newfoundland traditional music. Join them as they kick off the Festival in fine style with sll the elements of a traditional kitchen party including mummers and toutons and tea! Be a part of all the fun at the Orange Lodge, 118 Main Street, Twillingate. ($17 +HST)

8:30am - 4:00pm  Digital Filmmaking - Day 2: Filming 

The fun ramps up with a day of filming. Learn all the behind the scene tricks or shine in front of the lens...there's so many ways to get in on the action throughout Day 2! Location: TBA (Please note that shooting locations will vary and some locations may be outside, dress for the elements.) $175 +HST (Sorry, tickets for individual days are not available.)

- Digital Storytelling (Full day - $75 +HST)

An experiential workshop with social media guru James March and digital artist nTara Feener. More details to follow...

- Write Your Own Song with Dean Stairsw and Adam Baxter (Full day - $75 +HST)

Write lyrics and learn the basics of writing and recording music for your lyrics. A one-day workshop. More details to follow...

2:00pm - 6:00pm  Art Exhibit

Our exhibit of digital art on canvas and screen continues - come see the best work from invited local talent and featured artists on display for your viewing enjoyment. It's our "feast for the eyes". Location: Masonic Lodge, 111 Main Street, Twillingate. No ticket required. Donations accepted to support student participation in our exhibit.

 

6:30pm  From the Bog and the Bay Feast

If you are a foodie who loves to photograph beautiful cuisine or just a person who is hungry for some interesting variations on traditional Newfoundland fare, come to our feast! We'll have amazing Guest Chefs Roary MacPherson, former winner of Chopped Canada, assisted by chef Denise King and Lori McCarthy of Cod Sounds to provide you a taste (and photographic) experience like none other. Location: Georgie's Restaurant, Anchor Inn Hotel, 3 Path End, Twillingate. ($60 +HST)

8:30am - 2:00pm  Digital Filmmaking - Day 3: Editing

Day 3 brings the editing - learn all the tips for bringing all the pieces together and the concept becomes a reality - a short movie will be complete! And just a reminder to come to our closing event on Saturday and get in the limelight when your creation makes its public premiere! Location: TBA;  $175 +HST (Sorry, tickets for individual days are not available.)

 

10:00am - 12:30pm  Forage, Fire & Feast

9:00am - 12:00pm  The Amazing Root Cellar Race

A fun interactive family event that includes root cellars, clues, a few "hash tags" and a little bit of competition. Adventure, culture, prizes! Smart phone is required.

A truly original Twillingate event! Participants will run a race through a predetermined course going from root cellar to root cellar using clues along with GPS coordinates and an online map. This event combines the legacy work of Otto and Louise Sansome, food security awareness and digital technology all in a fun event on a Saturday morning! Come and bring the kids, get the t-shirt and say you ran in the second annual Amazing Root Cellar Race! Dress for the terrain and weather. Run or walk with friends, family or alone. This is a fun event for everyone! (Individual - $15 +HST, Team of 2 - $25 +HST)

 

10:00am - 11:00am  Family Beach Stroll

Lori McCarthy from Cod Sounds will take you and your kids on an adventure of foraging and hunting for beach treasures. Location: TBA (Please note this is an outdoor event, please dress for the weather and terrain); $5 +HST per family (maximum of 4 per family)
