Event description
Expand your mind to the possibilities of advocating for communities you don't represent with this interactive workshop.

About this Event

Facilitator Maybe Burke (they/she) offers a framework for acknowledging and leveraging your own privileges while navigating anti-oppression work. By examining our own social locations and identities, we can assess how to best show up to the work that we do.

In this 3-hour interactive webinar, we'll discuss the multiplicities of privilege; learn how to talk about our own social locations and privileges; and examine the differences between allies, advocates, activists, and accomplices.

Maybe Burke (they/she) is an award winning actor, writer, and human rights advocate focused on expanding conversations around representation for marginalized communities. Maybe has spoken on several panels and various platforms, from Buzzfeed to BroadwayCon. Their solo show, Love Letters to Nobody, received the 2017 Fresh Fruit Spirit Award for Fostering Pride, Survival, History, and Progress. Founder of the Trans Literacy Project, Trainer with Collaborate Consulting, Core Trainer with The Transgender Training Institute. maybeburke.com @believeinmaybe
