Join us for this fun and unique opportunity to help people with Parkinson's Disease right here in Nebraska!

    This year’s event will take place from January 25-26 at the UNMC Ice Rink for 24 hours from 2:00 pm on Friday to 2:00 pm on Saturday.

      The Skate-a-thon is a 24-hour, family-friendly, outdoor ice-skating event!

      Corporate Sponsorship opportunities are still available! Companies interested in corporate sponsorship should call Amber at the Parkinson’s Nebraska office at 402-715-4707 or email info@parkinsonsnebraska.org.


      Individual and Family Registration*

      Tickets include unlimited skating---stop by any time to skate, and skate for as long as you'd like!

      Individual: $15 Price includes registration and skate-rental.

      Family: $50 Price includes registration and skate rental for two adults and up to 8 children (under the age of 18) from the same household.

      Skaters can raise more money for Parkinson's Nebraska by rallying the support of their friends and family! Ask your cheerleaders to donate on your behalf. Prizes will be awarded to the individuals and families who raise the most money!

      Individual/Family Instructions:

      1. Register as an Individual or family, filling out the form completely.

      2. Ask your cheerleaders for donations and track using the Rock the Clock Individual/Family Donation Tracker.

      3. Submit donation tracker and donations to Amber at the Parkinson's Nebraska office by Friday, February 1, 2019 to be considered for the prize.


      Rock the Clock Team Registration*

      Rock-the Clock Skaters are teams committed to being out on the ice for the full the twenty-four hours! Recruit your family, friends, and co-workers to form a team. Divide up the twenty-four hours to have a representative out on the ice throughout the entire event.

      Rock the Clock Team Member: $15 Price includes registration, skate-rental, free food, motivation, and recognition throughout the event.

      Rock the Clock Teams can raise more money for Parkinsons's Nebraska by rallying the support of their friends, family, and coworkers! Ask your cheerleaders to donate on your behalf. Prizes will be awarded to the Rock the Clock team who raises the most money!

      Team Captain Instructions:

      1. Register as a Rock the Clock Team Captain.

      2. Complete the Rock the Clock Team Roster and submit to Amber at amber@parkinsonsnebraska.org by Wednesday, January 23rd at noon!

      Team Member Instructions:

      1. Register as a Rock the Clock Team Member and be sure to enter your team's name.

      2. Ask your cheerleaders for donations and track using the Rock the Clock Team Donation Tracker.

      3. Submit donation tracker and donations to Amber at the Parkinson's Nebraska office by Friday, February 1, 2019 to be considered for the prize.

      The History of Skate-a-thon for Parkinson's

      Upon her own diagnosis at the age of 52, Colleen Wuebben founded the PHD (Parkinson's Health Development) program to help increase the availability and accessibility of specialized exercise classes for people with Parkinson's in Omaha. She and her husband Ted flooded their own backyard in 2008 to host the very first Skate-a-thon to raise funds to support Colleen's dream. The twenty-four-hour, outdoor ice skating event was a hit, and quickly grew in popularity! In 2010 the Skate-a-thon outgrew the Wuebben family's backyard and the PHD partnered with UNMC to host the first, UNMC Skate-a-thon for Parkinson's, which raised money for the research being done at UNMC and for the Parkinson's services. Colleen passed away in 2013, but her legacy continues with this epic event. Since her death, the PHD program has changed its name to Parkinson's Nebraska and has expanded its mission to be a primary resource for Parkinson's disease information, educational programs, exercise classes, and support to all Nebraskans touched by Parkinson's disease, and her family (her 5 children and Ted of course!) continue to honor her memory with the Skate-a-thon. This year marks the 10th anniversary of the very first Skate-a-thon. We invite you to join us to support local Parkinson's disease research and services, and to make this event a family tradition of your own!
