INNOVATION ON OIL & GAS - UNMANNED PLATFORMS

Judson Jacobs, Executive Director Upstream Energy practice at IHS Markit

Jacobs studies the strategic implications and tactical applications of oilfield and digital technologies across the oil and gas value chain. His recent research includes the Globalization of Innovation, the changing dynamics of upstream technology development, and the growing role of digital technology in field development and asset operations.

Mr. Jacobs hold a BSE from Princeton University and Master of Science in Geology from Stanford University, both US.

Iain Duncan, Director Of Integrated Offshore Solutions at TechnipFMC

Iain has been developing innovative solutions within the oil & gas space throughout his 38-year career, working and mentoring with some of the key innovators in the industry. This background has enabled him to push the boundaries on drilling & production controls in the early eighties with the introduction of fiber optics, to developing self-contained satellite activated emergency well containment systems. Taking a practical and lean approach to solution development, with a focus on overall commerciality of the technology has been his guiding principal.
In his newest role, he has been tasked by TechnipFMC Surface management with delivering a transformational step change to enable our customers’ marginal offshore developments in tight economic conditions.

During his presentation, he will walk through the overall philosophy, and guiding engineering principals employed to take a bespoke process and turn it into a product deliverable. The focus of which will be safety and performance through integrated systems, the resulting solution can deliver a robust platform, with a short cycle time that maximizes the potential for future proofing new offshore fixed platforms.
