Unlocking Potential for Students with Autism
Mon, Aug 7, 2017, 3:00 PM – Fri, Aug 11, 2017, 5:00 PM CDT
Poetry plays directly to the strengths and challenges many students with autism face with literacy. It provides just the right amount of structure while opening an avenue for deep, singular focus. Through fun and interactive exercises your writing potential will be unlocked. These activities use the power of your special interests to give you a voice and creative outlet.
Join us for this innovative five-day camp where you will explore the power of poetry and songwriting. In just five days your special interests will fuel literary works of art that will be published. This book will be for sale at a poetry reading where you will present your creative work and unique perspective to the community. Provided through an Arts Learning grant through the MN State Arts Board.
This camp is designed for ages 10-16 but all ages will be considered. Please contact CEA with any questions. All abilities are welcome, as are PCA’s or parents who wish to assist their child in full engagement in the camp. CEU’s are available from the Center for Engaging Autism.
