Event description

Description

For Educators

Poetry plays directly to the strengths and challenges many students with autism face with literacy. It provides needed structure while opening an avenue for deep, singular focus. Through fun and interactive exercises that fit seamlessly into the general education language arts curriculum you will unlock the literary potential of your students with autism. These writing exercises work for all students, but are especially powerful for those living with autism, as they use special interests to give a voice to all learners, even those who are “nonverbal.”

Join us for this innovative five-day camp that trains educators to use the power of poetry to benefit all students! Educators will receive 2 hours of group training with half an hour of hands-on implementation of what they’ve learned with students with autism every day. Provided through an Arts Learning grant through the MN State Arts Board. CEU’s are available from the Center for Engaging Autism.
