Event description

Description

This one-night event will equip Christians to know biblical truth about manhood, womanhood, and our God-given identity. Dr. Owen Strachan will speak about how Genesis 1-2 shape our understanding of the human person and how we can help people confused by our secular gender revolution.

State Representative and area pastor Doug Richey will issue a call to faithfulness in the public square on matters of gender and sexuality.

These speakers will lend strength to pastors and Christians who find themselves in the midst of a gender revolution. We cannot fall silent in these days. Out of love for Christ, and out of a desire to speak the truth in love, believers must recognize that this is a time to stand. It is a time to tell the truth. It is a time to get equipped to handle one of the toughest challenges of our time.

Owen Strachan is associate professor of Christian theology at Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (MBTS) in Kansas City, Missouri. He is also the director of the Center for Public Theology at MBTS, where he teaches the full range of courses in theology at the MDiv and PhD levels.

Strachan has published over a dozen books, included The Grand Design: Male and Female He Made Them (with Gavin Peacock). He is a senior fellow (and the former president) of the Council on Biblical Manhood & Womanhood, a research fellow of the Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, and a contributing writer to The Gospel Coalition.

Doug Richey represents part of Clay County (District 38) in the Missouri House of Representatives. He was elected to his first two-year term in November 2018. Richey is pastor of Pisgah Baptist Church in Excelsior Springs.

In addition to his legislative duties, Richey is a pastor, law enforcement chaplain and adjunct professor. He spent eight years in the Missouri Army National Guard as a combat engineer.

After obtaining an undergraduate degree from the University of Central Missouri, Richey earned three master’s degrees and a doctorate from the Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (MBTS).

Please make plans to join us. There is no charge to attend.
