Description

UWE

Join us for another in our successful series of China Pow Wow networking events, kindly hosted and sponsored by UWE’s Bristol Business School.

UWE staff will offer insights on future business links with China providing a deeper insight into exporting education and developing a two-way relationship which provides an opportunity for businesses to reach out to international students through the UWE International talent scheme and benefit from their expertise and knowledge.

Bureau Director Richard Lowe said: “This evening is about how UWE can support local businesses and improve student engagement. Business leaders will get a valuable insight on how UK education providers can help foster a more effective two-way relationship with China.”

The Pow Wow will feature Noordin Shehabuddeen, Director of UWE’s Bristol Business Engagement Centre (BBEC) and Associate Professor in Innovation and Entrepreneurship, who will describe how UWE recruits in China and how the students, once they get here, interact with UK businesses going forward.

Bureau Chief Executive Dianne Francombe said: “Noordin is an Associate Professor in Innovation and Entrepreneurship and leads a range of ambitious programmes aimed at further strengthening UWE’s role as a provider of cutting edge business-relevant education and solutions.

“Located within the state of the art Business and Law School facility, BBEC is an effective gateway to industry.”

Sophie Turnbull, Head of International Recruitment at UWE will describe the opportunities and nuances associated with accessing the Chinese education market, while Colette Percival, Head of External Relations Development (Employability and Enterprise), UWE Bristol will talk on how Chinese (and international students) support UK businesses.

There will also be opportunities for further networking with like-minded business people.

Dianne Francombe said: “Bristol’s expertise in these areas of business has already attracted Chinese digital technology firms and this networking event will offer a unique insight into what is driving interest in China.”

China Bureau Corporate and Personal Members are entitled to invite a complimentary guest. Students are welcome to complimentary tickets.

Employers attending the Bristol and West of England China Bureau Pow Wow on November 23 will have the opportunity to check out facilities at the new UWE Business School.
