University of South Alabama Pediatric Leadership Alliance (PLA) Session

Developed in partnership with the University of South Alabama, the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP) and the Alabama Chapter of the AAP.


Friday, June 16 1:00 – 4:30 PM (networking reception with heavy hors d'oeuvre, drinks and live music to follow)
Saturday, June 17 7:45 AM – 3:00 PM (breakfast and lunch included)

Join us for a 1.5 day session on the Patient Centered Medical Home (PCMH) model within the context of the leadership model from The Leadership Challenge by James Kouzes and Barry Posner. This workshop includes both didactic and hands-on elements to help you understand your role in PCMH and how you can be a leader during the process. Learn from experts about Real-life examples of PCMH, common hurdles and how to overcome them and be successful.

By attending this session, you will:


- Explore the practices of leadership from the Leadership Challenge - review the five practices and take specific examples to demonstrate a pragmatic style

- Learn leadership concepts within the context of primary care practices becoming a Primary Care Medical Home (PCMH)

- Understand your role as a provider in leading your organization through change management using specific examples as it applies to the PCMH recognition process

- Understand what you should expect regarding real world benefits of applying leadership principles to becoming a PCMH recognized practice site
