University of Nottingham Africa Summit 2017
Fri 16 June 2017, 08:45 – 16:30 BST
The maiden University of Nottingham Africa Summit will create a platform for key issues and practical potential solutions to these issues which will be discussed over a one-day event. We have decided to be bold in the delivery of this summit and not to only talk about the potential of Africa but also the practical steps we can take to harness this potential. We also hope to identify key milestones necessary to achieve the road to efficiency and development as a continent. The summit will be based on the African Development Bank's 'High Fives' identified for development in Africa; which are Feed Africa, Integrate Africa, Industrialise Africa, Improve the Quality of life of Africans, and Power Africa.
Delegates will be a mixture of students and corporate individuals from businesses within the area. The event is open to the public by invitation only. The event already has confirmation from prestigieous speakers such as His Excellency Atiku Abubakar (The Ex-Vice President of Nigeria), Dr Josephine Ojiambo (Deputy Secretary General of The Commonwealth), Chief Tunde Afolabi (Chairman of Amni International Petroleum Company), Dr Boly Barry (Former Minister of Education for Burkina Faso and UN Special Rapporteur on the right to education) to name a few.
