The University of Minnesota Bee Lab moved into the new Bee and Pollinator Research Lab on the Saint Paul campus in September 2016. This state of the art building is home to the honey bee and native bee labs of Marla Spivak Ph.D. and Dan Cariveau, Ph.D. It is also houses the Bee Squad, the Extension and education arm of the Bee Lab.
You are invited to join us for a 45 minute tour of the facility and pollinator gardens. Reservations are required.
Tours are free, but donations to support Bee Lab research and Extension are welcome.
The building is a working lab and we are unable to accommodate large groups. Tour size limited to 10 attendees.
There is NO PUBLIC PARKING at The Bee and Pollinator Research Lab. Metered parking is located just south of Folwell AV on Gortner AV and on Folwell AV (1980 Folwell AV). There is also a parking ramp approximately .5 miles south on Gortner AV.
Here is a map of campus parking.
We strongly encourage everyone interested in bees and pollinators to tour the Tashjian Bee and Pollinator Discovery Center at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum.
