Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Presenters' Academy (Training #2) for Region 4 COE Technical Assistance Providers

*Please note this training has a prerequisite: Introduction to Universal Design for Learning (UDL) Training #1*

The UDL Presenters’ Academy is designed to help educators build professional development capacity within a school, district, college, or university. During this institute participants will be coached on strategies to deliver introductory UDL content as a UDL facilitator. Because every classroom, school system, and higher education organization is different and because there is variability within systems, the implementation of UDL in a particular organization will be unique. UDL presenters can facilitate scaling and optimizing UDL within an organization.

Using the UDL framework and its practical guidelines will eliminate barriers in the design of the learning environment and make curriculum accessible to all students.

Please visit the Cast Professional Learning Institute for more CAST details on outcomes and descriptions of introductions and trainings of trainers’.

Instructors:

Ari Fleisher

Implementation Specialist

Ari Fleisher facilitates and manages CAST Institutes, and supports the Professional Learning team with operations and staffing. She has seen learning environments come alive in and out of classrooms through her work with curriculum, school climate and culture, and social-emotional learning. Ari believes that UDL can help to deepen students’ excitement about discovery, and is thrilled to be spreading the word of UDL to help set students (and educators) up for long-term success. Ari enjoys camping, biking and singing.

Jennifer Dee

As an Implementation Specialist, Jennifer Dee supports educators in their use of Universal Design for Learning to provide the best learning experiences for a wide variety of students. Region 4, System of District and School Support

No Child Left Behind (NCLB) Act of 2001 requires each state to establish a statewide system of intensive and sustained support and improvement for local education agencies and schools receiving Title I funding to increase opportunities for all students to meet state academic content and achievement standards. As a result, the Regional System of District and School Support (RSDSS) was established, and partners with the California Department of Education (CDE), the Comprehensive Assistance Center, and county offices of education to form the Statewide System of School Support (S4) and satisfy the requirements of NCLB. The RSDSS of Region 4 provides leadership, resources, and technical assistance to the schools, districts, and county offices of Alameda, Contra Costa, Marin, Napa, San Francisco, San Mateo and Solano in order to increase their collective capacity to support students in meeting or exceeding the state's academic content standards.

Cancellation Policy: Registrations cancelled seven (7) working days or less prior to the workshop are assessed the full charge of the registration.  If the registration is cancelled eight (8) to fifteen (15) working days prior to the workshop, a fifty percent charge is assessed.  If the registration is cancelled sixteen (16) or more working days prior to the workshop, a full refund is given. ***RSDSS reserves the right to cancel or reschedule our trainings as necessary***
