~What HUM is saying~

Millions of people are sitting at home thinking “I just can’t change this world alone.”

How can any of us as individuals even make a dent in the inequality, suffering and environmental destruction in our world? The answer is far more simple and direct than we imagine. The answer is that we don’t have to do any of it alone. Many hands make light work, and all we need to do is work together.

Throughout history, lasting change has been made by people who can agree on simple yet powerful ideals. You, me and we together are far more powerful than we have ever imagined.

~ Plug In! Act Up! ~

-International Grassroots Tree Planting-

HUM launched the climate challenge last year, and joined the international underground tree planting effort. Malu Wilder will present us with direct and easy ways that we can plug into the underground international effort and literally help save the world. HUM is organizing several planting and promotion teams for the spring. Together we can make a serious dent in climate change and slow the "doomsday clock."

-Finding Unity-

Ukumbwa Sauti will be presenting us with wisdom and philosophy around the topic of finding unity.

Ukumbwa is an educator, presenter, facilitator and consultant and has worked in and for community organizations and programs and higher education. He specializes in social justice, anti-oppression, cultural studies, media and spirituality. He is an initiated Elder in the Dagara tradition from Burkina Faso, west Africa, a musician and composer. His company, moja mediaworks, presents a series of social justice workshops, has Online Stores providing apparel, drinkware, etc,… with progressive, social change and environmental messaging and is developing the World Ancestor Concert, a global concert event with the theme, “Women, Water & Peace”.

-Free Stuff Upcycle Revolution!-

Millions of perfectly good, usable items are thrown in the trash every single day. Meanwhile poverty forces many families to go without basic, daily supplies. Our society creates waste on an unprecedented scale, throwing out goods that are often desperately needed within our communities. The good news? Communities around the country are banding together to upcycle perfectly usable items. This movement is not only dramatically lowering waste in multiple communities, it is also helping alleviate poverty by putting upcycled goods in the hands of people who need them the most. Sarah Cannon, who has been at the forefront of the free stuff revolution in Jamaica Plain, MA will be presenting us with direct and easy ways that we can plug into this movement.
