Event description
Unity Books Presents is an online event series that offers a behind-the-scenes look at books published by Unity.

About this event

An Online Conversation with Author, Jim Blake.

In this event, Rev. Ellen Debenport, vice president of publishing at Unity World Headquarters, sits down with Jim Blake, author of the soon to be released book: The Zen Executive: Gems of Wisdom for Enlightened Leadership.

Book Overview

The Zen Executive: Gems of Wisdom for Enlightened Leadership is a pithy, portable book with commonsense ideas for aligning business practices with ancient spiritual principles—from a voice of experience.

Spiritual leaders will see that taking a businesslike approach to their work does not leave out compassion, love, and service. By the same token, business leaders will learn from someone who has been in their shoes about how they can incorporate spiritual-but-not-religious teachings into their leadership style.

As I studied world religions and ancient teachings from around the globe, I began to see how easily their beauty and truth could be incorporated in—even function in alignment with—best business practices,” Blake writes in The Zen Executive.

The role of leaders is to inspire, motivate, and stay positive about the future. To do so requires inner work and a deep understanding of why and how an organization makes a difference. Here in one place are gems of wisdom for using spiritual principles to boost innovation and creativity in any endeavor.

Topics in the Book Include:

  • Inclusion -- Invite everyone to the table. Company performance soars with diverse teams.
  • Self Care -- Nurture your own well-being. Making time for self-care will improve decision making.
  • Innovation -- Stay open to new ideas rather than being comfortable always doing the same thing.
  • Intuition -- Using your intuition is more crucial today than ever.
  • Be open -- Explore what might be holding you back.
  • Don't Fear Failure -- Failure is an opportunity to learn and do better next time.
