Why It Matters
United Way brings people together to help make Dane County stronger. One way we do this is through volunteerism – mobilizing the caring power of our community to make meaningful and lasting change. All proceeds from this event will support United Way's Volunteer Resource Center, connecting prospective community and corporate volunteers to opportunities that match their interests, helping thousands of people give back each year.
Additionally, by participating in volunteer engagements, you can make a real difference in the lives of our neighbors.
Personal Care Packs: Personal hygiene is about more than just appearance. For individuals facing financial insecurity, access to these everyday items supports their health and self-respect. Food and nutrition assistance programs do not cover these items, so people may have to choose between paying for rent or buying essentials.
Healthy Snack Packs: Food security means improved health, more stability and sets the stage for future well-being. For children, food security also impacts education – children who are hungry are more likely to have behavioral issues, repeat a grade or miss school entirely.
Menstrual Hygiene Packs: When individuals in Dane County don’t have access to menstrual hygiene products, they are more likely to miss work or school. A period shouldn’t stop someone from participating and succeeding in school, work and life. Food and nutrition assistance programs do not cover these items and members of our community should not have to choose between paying for rent or buying essentials.
