Event description

Description

Our Culture Night cast, through days of work and practice, take pride in creating a production that truly displays the Cambodian culture in a manner that is enriching to all. Through Culture Night, our members are given a creative outlet in which they can express themselves, as well as a bonding experience that is to be forever cherished. Our goal is to serve the community well in bringing a production that unites Cambodian-Americans together to build more strength, resilience, and presence, despite the small size of our community. These qualities will be carried forward to future generations, who will learn about the adversity and challenges that our culture faced and continues to face within America.

The Story

Ponleak is a young man who falls victim to the school to prison to deportation pipeline. He unravels the complexity of these injustices rooted in his family problems as he experiences street life, prison life, and deportation threats. This narrative highlights a contemporary issue many Cambodian Americans and other Southeast Asians are currently dealing with throughout America and even within our local communities.

Parking

Ernest Borgnine Theater will have about 300 parking spots at the venue so we do ask if you can carpool or walk if it's within distance since the location is near Cambodia Town. This would help minimize the space we take up. Parking will be free and first-come-first-served. If the parking lot become full, there will be street parking within the neighborhood.
