In preparation for the National Weekend of Prayer September 6-7, 2019, we invite you to join us for the Annual Suicide Prevention Summit for Faith Leaders. As leaders and members of different Utah faith groups, we join together in recognizing the sacred gift of life. When a person dies by suicide, we grieve deeply with compassion for the loss of precious life and for the people who are devastated by their loss.

We believe our spiritual traditions and communities can help us find hope, meaning, and purpose in life. Our relationships to the Divine and one another provide light in darkness, pathways through suffering, comfort in despair, and companionship in loneliness. United in our devotion and committed to inclusion, our common refrain must always be you are loved, you belong here, and you matter.

We believe we all have a role in preventing suicide. We pray for strength of mind, body, and spirit as we reach out with compassion to those whose own strengths are diminished. We devote ourselves to support the healing of those who have experienced suicidal thoughts and behaviors themselves or survived the loss of someone they love to suicide. We vow to listen, to learn, and to act.

Our goal is to establish and strengthen connections among us. We honor the differences in individuals, families, and communities, for they enrich us. Just as we join together our varied faiths with deep mutual respect, we must also embrace our diverse individuals and families with unconditional love. May we find joy and success in our collective journey to unite, to embrace, and to heal.
