Event description

Description

In the Cincinnati region alone, over 600,000 residents– including your neighbors, co-workers, and friends– live in poverty. That’s nearly one-third of the population!

Poverty is undermining the opportunity for people to thrive. We believe focusing on families with children is the highest priority for United Way to maximize impact and make faster and more equitable progress towards the Bold Goals.

That’s why we are taking on the ambitious goal of lifting more children and families out of poverty – reaching at least 5,000 families by 2020. Our approach focuses on moving parents and caregivers out of poverty in the near term, break the generational cycle for children in the long term, and improving communities and systems to prevent poverty in the first place.

To do this, United Way has launched the Opportunity Agenda. Join us at this event to

  • Learn how the agenda shifts our organization’s strategic focus and primary investments toward solutions that will help more families and children

  • Be inspired when you hear from community members who have been lifted from poverty toward self-sufficiency

  • Dialogue with partners like Brighton Center, YWCA, Urban League and how they are shifting their work to help more families in poverty
