Description

Can Union County Break the Cycle of Criminal Recidivism and Re-Incarceration by Improving services for returning citizens?

A Community Forum And Re-Entry Awareness Simulation

Participants will be involved in a simulation exercise, an eye-opening activity where they will encounter the same challenges faced by many ex-offenders as they try to complete their court-ordered obligations as well as maintain their day-to-day life.

Following the simulation, our panelists will discuss:

  • The human and economic costs of the cycle of re-incarceration.
  • The challenges that the previously incarcerated face.
  • What is being done now at federal, state, county and local levels to break this cycle.
  • How Union County stakeholders can participate in these efforts.

Who should attend: All who are concerned about crime and incarceration in Union County. These include government officials; faith-based organizations; employers; labor unions; workforce, education, health, and social service agencies; public safety officials; the previously incarcerated; students; and concerned citizens.
