Created by Associate Prof Gavin Sacks, Clinical Director IVFA and Amy Forth, Director Acupuncture Pregnancy Clinic Alexandria

Topic: Unexplained Reproductive Failure.

Description: Dr Gavin Sacks (IVFA), Sally Charles (Chinese Medicine Practitioner), and Amanda Haberecht (Naturopath, Darling Health) will present their knowledge, expertise, research and clinical approaches on the topic: Unexplained Reproductive Failure.

The talks are delivered to and presented by IVF doctors, Specialists, GPs, Naturopaths, Acupuncturists and other interested healthcare providers who have special interests in specific areas of women’s health, fertility treatment and IVF. This aims to stimulate inter professional education, collaboration and the cross pollination of ideas between healthcare practitioners from a range of backgrounds and disciplines.

Associate Professor Gavin Sacks MA BM BCh DPhil FRCOG FRANZCOG CCSST (CREI-UK)

Gavin Sacks is Clinical Director at IVFAustralia Eastern Suburbs Sydney, and Conjoint Associate Professor at the University of New South Wales. After graduating from the Universities of Cambridge and Oxford, including a DPhil in reproductive immunology, he completed clinical training in Reproductive Medicine in London, and then moved to Sydney in 2005. He teaches and examines at UNSW and for the Royal College. He has published over 40 research papers and is Associate Editor for Human Reproduction Update, and a past Associate Editor for Human Reproduction. Current research interests include repeated IVF failure, natural killer cell testing and immune therapy.

Sally Charles Adv Dip (Acupuncture) MHSc (Chinese Med)

Sally Charles is a Chinese Medicine practitioner with a wealth of experience who has been in practice since 1981. Sally has held a long time interest in fertility and gynaecology as well as infection, epidemiology and post viral complications and autoimmunity. Sally studied extensively in hospitals in China and completed a Masters in Health Science (Chinese Herbal Medicine) at UTS in 2001. Sally was also an educator for 25 years, being Director of Studies from1985-1988 at Acupuncture Colleges Australia (ACA) and has been a lecturer at ACA (now UTS), UTS, UWS, London School of Acupuncture and the Sydney College of Traditional Chinese Medicine. In 2018 Sally presented a seminar on Chinese Medical approaches for Failed Implantation and Miscarriage. Currently Sally runs a busy private practice in Bondi where she has a special interest in patients with reproductive issues caused by implantation failure, autoimmunity and natural killer cells.

Amanda Haberecht ND, MATMS, MNHAA, Adv. Dip (Nat)

Amanda Haberecht is the Principal Naturopath and Director of Darling Health. She has been in practice for over 23 years with a special interest in women’s health. Amanda specialises in reproductive health, infertility for men and women, miscarriage prevention and preconception care offering an alternative model for women and their partners experiencing issues surrounding conception. She is committed to the advancement of credible Naturopathic research and is currently completing an Honours Programme in Evidence Based Complimentary Medicine. Amanda also practices at Paradigm in Sydney, an integrated health clinic specialising in women’s reproductive health. She is also the director and designer of the Mygen Health range of fertility formulas for both men and women and regularly speaks on women’s health, preconception and pregnancy health, and naturopathic IVF support.

Amy Forth BHSc (Chinese med) MGHDS (Global Health)

Amy is a Chinese Medicine doctor committed to developing integrative medical practices through practice, research and education in the field of Fertility, IVF, Pregnancy Acupuncture and Integrative Medicine. Amy is the Director of Acupuncture Pregnancy Clinic Alexandria located in ASDH. Amy completed a Masters degree in Global Health in 2017, in which she undertook research into integrative medical practices of GP’s, and focused on GP’s access to, and communication of Complimentary Medicine. Amy is involved with clinical research and Interprofessional communication projects with Australia Integrative Medical Association (AIMA) and National Institute of Complimentary Medicine (NICM), presented her research at International Congress on Complementary Medicine Research (ICCMR) and looks forward to presenting on IVF acupuncture at Fertility Society of Australia (FSA) annual conference later this year.
