Description

Join us at SEA LIFE London for our next A.Q.U.A Night ... an Underwater Photography Workshop!

A.Q.U.A Nights is SEA LIFE London’s new series of charity fundraising events, all with the purpose of raising funds for the SEA LIFE Trust.

Enjoy a unique evening of creative underwater photography at SEALIFE London – without getting wet! SEA LIFE London has invited INON UK to help with a special charity fundraiser as part of their A.Q.U.A Nights events series and we’ve come up with a uniquely themed motion blur and natural lighting event we think will be a lot of fun. Suitable for beginners and more seasoned underwater photographers alike, we’ll be encouraging you to experiment with creative motion blur, such as panning, and showing you how to shoot silhouettes and create shafts of light around your subject. The whole thrust of the workshop is to help you to take better underwater photographs on your next diving trip. Spaces are limited, so it’s important to get your booking in early.

SEA LIFE London is home to thousands of aquatic animals – including penguins, octopus, turtles, sharks and jellyfish – and is involved in several breeding programs and conservation work. The aquarium works closely with its partner charity, the SEA LIFE Trust (UK registered charity number: 1149058), to protect marine wildlife and habitats across the world, to protect endangered species and communicate key conservation messages to its visitors. A large percentage of money raised through ticket sales will be donated directly to the SEA LIFE Trust, helping them to fund further projects around the world.

The evening starts with a presentation on creative lighting by INON UK Underwater Photography Instructor-Trainer, Lisa Collins. Then INON UK’s Steve Warren, also an INON UK Instructor-Trainer, will brief you on a set of exercises we want you to try around the impressive displays at SEA LIFE London. We’ll be showing you how to pan with the sharks, to blur the background and give a sense of speed. We’ll explain how to create catherine wheel effects by spinning your camera, using corals as subjects. You’ll shoot against the surface light to make ray and turtle silhouettes and learn how to create ethereal shafts of light around your subject. The tanks of the SEA LIFE London are also great studios in which to experiment with reflections and master manual focus for close up photography. A team of INON UK specialists will be on hand to answer your questions and coach you as you work your way around the aquarium.

Please note, you will be required to bring your own camera equipment. Doors will close at 7:15pm so please arrive promptly. Under 16's must be accompanied by an adult (18+) at all times.
