Traumatic events are unfortunately a part of nearly everyone's life. To be of most benefit to those we work with, we must understand the physiological & psychological effects of trauma. This breathwork webinar series is is meant for anyone wanting to understand their own mind and body better, as well as those who work with people such as yoga teachers, therapists, body workers and breath therapists. It is part of the required curriculum for BBTRS students.

You’re invited to join us by phone or watch & listen over the internet — on your desktop, laptop, tablet or smartphone. We meet on March 16, 23, and 30th, 2017 for a total of 3 sessions. The webinars are meant to be attended live. A link to the recording of each webinar and a printable outline of the slides will be sent to all registrants as well.

This webinar is taught in 3 parts, 90 min. each, 4.5 hours in total:

August 31st, September 7 & 14th, 2017, 1-2:30pm EST/ 7-8:30pm CET each time

In this 3 part webinar series we will cover:

Overview of different types of trauma (developmental, shock, simple vs complex PTSD, etc)

Interpersonal neurobiology and physiology of trauma and attachment

Interoception, exteroception, neuroception and proprioception

Hypothalamis-pituitary-adrenal (HPA) axis, opioids, and adrenal fatigue

The polyvagal theory and the activation cycle of social engagement strategies, orienting, fight/flight, freeze/collapse and deactivation

Manifestations of traumatic stress

Trauma and memory

Special attention will be paid to emotional and somatic disorders commonly seen among people suffering from trauma, e.g., addiction, anxiety, panic, phobia, anger, chronic pain, chronic stress, depression, dissociation, attention (ADD, ADHD), learning disabilities.
