This conference aims to showcase examples of best practice and explore how the sector can further develop support for estranged students to enhance access, retention and success.
Adressing the whole student lifecycle, sessions will focus primarily on finance, accommodation, mental health and outreach/transition - the four areas where the need of support for estranged students is most pronounced. There are already many universities offering support for this cohort - more in some of these four areas than in others. The day will therefore provide a space to hear from you about your experiences and the good practice you have already implemented at your university and what you may be planning to develop going forward. We will discuss the issues facing estranged students and how we can do more to provide them with the right information and advice to progress into HE and to succeed on course.
See below for the draft agenda.
To help the HE sector develop its commitment and support for estranged students Stand Alone is developing a Pledge for institutions across the UK to sign up to. We will be announcing the Pledge in September and will be officially launching the Stand Alone Pledge for Higher Education with a free launch event from 3.15 - 5pm following the conference. We hope you will be able to join us. To sign up for the launch please go to: https://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-stand-alone-pledge-launch-event-tickets-25841338138
