a DVD series by Sr. Barbara Reid, OP for both men and women …
The Community of God’s Love, in Rutherford, NJ is hosting a DVD series titled “An Introduction to a Feminist Interpretation of the Bible”. Race, class, culture and gender all determine how one understands scripture. This series will take the feminist* viewpoint to interpret several well known scripture stories, giving both women and men a different perspective on their meaning. This series will start on Jan. 20th, 2017. Each evening will include a light supper, 2 videos and a discussion. The evening will begin promptly at 7:00pm. * Feminist, in this context, may be defined as anyone who is committed to the humanity, dignity and equality of all persons. The method of study used in this series was developed by Elisabeth Schussler Fiorenza.
Sr. Barbara Reid, OP is Vice President, Academic Dean, and Professor of New Testament Studies at Catholic Theological Union in Chicago. A Dominican sister of Grand Rapids, Sr. Reid holds a Ph.D. in Religious Studies and is a past President of the Catholic Biblical Association of America.
